dear sarah, yesterday I tried to swallow the sun. it burned me up on the inside until even my skin was hot to the touch, and I thought of you. Tropical Sunrise

Today the sun rose slowly, Over the steamy sea. There were sounds of water lapping, As the tide crept close to me. Wet sand was intermittent as the water lapped the shore, The seagulls raced the water in Between the shells galore. The humidity is creeping up, The breeze is turning warm, The yachts and cats are still - In the waters, blue and calm. Today it is a pile of rocks, clay, and sand But once it was a mountain so tall and grand. Now it's just a stump and not much at all Though it was once a redwood so great and tall. Today it's a desert where no water can be found But it used to be the floor of an ancient ocean sound. Today it's just an island with very little to see But once it was a continent with lakes and trees. The waves of the sea turn the rocks into sand As do the glaciers grinding slowly across the land. Wood becomes dirt and rock becomes sand; Ground becomes ocean and sea becomes land. Stone into sand then sand into stone; Bone into soil and soil into bone. Nothing will stay the same; In time nothing will remain.

we assume the fish that appears to advance without moving does so, effortlessly; as if the sea itself merely wills them forward we long to swim like this to hold our position in the universe while the earth churns its oceans past, as if its motion were ours and perhaps it might be if we could only comprehend how much lag truly resides in the linkage between space and time, then we'd know water like it knows us our ins and outs and the low places where nothing dares settle for long we'd know why sleep evades when we're most spent, as memories older than our own activate, once we traverse a certain set proximity

Just happened to be playing around with effects and I caught this- the colors seemed pretty enough on their own, let alone the view.

That sky looks so heavenly over those wonderful pastures and mountains. I love the rays that you captured with your camera as well, that is very well done! This would make a wonderful stock photo!
